Canton Fair 2026: From Hair Care Products to Smarter PCBA Control Solutions

October 15, 2026 | CHK-TRONIC

A visit to the Canton Fair offers an opportunity to look beyond product catalogues and see how appliance manufacturers present their latest designs.

Photos taken during our visit on October 15 show a broad selection of hair dryers, styling brushes, straighteners and curling tools, alongside wall-mounted hair dryers and washroom appliances. For brands and product developers, these displays raise a practical question:

What control electronics are needed to turn an attractive product concept into a reliable, repeatable product?

At CHK-TRONIC, this question connects directly with our work in appliance control systems, embedded firmware and PCBA manufacturing.

1. A Wide Product Range Creates Different Control Requirements

Photo 1: Hair dryers, styling brushes and other hair care appliances displayed at the Canton Fair.

The first photograph shows multiple hair care product formats arranged together. While these appliances share a common application area, their electronic requirements can differ substantially.

A hair dryer must coordinate airflow and heating. A straightener needs controlled heating at its plates. A styling brush may combine a fan, heater and several operating modes.

For a development team, the starting point is therefore a clear functional specification:

  • What motor and heater will the product use?
  • Which speed and temperature settings are required?
  • How should buttons, indicators and displays behave?
  • What should happen when a sensor fails or operation becomes abnormal?
  • How much space is available for the control board and wiring?

CHK-TRONIC’s hair care platforms cover high-speed hair dryers, straighteners and curling irons, with customization across motor control, heating, interfaces and firmware. These provide a starting point for evaluating a new product’s electronic architecture.

2. Styling Features Need Clearly Defined Firmware Behavior

Photo 2: A hair styling appliance booth featuring automatic curler displays and visitor discussions.

The second photograph includes an automatic curler display. It illustrates how product differentiation can involve operating behavior as well as appearance.

For a motorized curling product, development questions may include rotation direction, timing, heating coordination and the response to a jam. The exact requirements depend on the mechanical design and intended use.

Even a familiar feature such as a temperature button needs precise definition: Does it cycle through settings? Is the previous setting remembered? What happens after a power interruption?

These details belong in the firmware specification before prototype approval. Defining operating modes, transitions and fault responses early gives engineers and buyers a shared basis for testing.

CHK-TRONIC’s embedded firmware approach connects appliance functions with the underlying electrical design, including operating states and sensor behavior.

3. Wall-Mounted Appliances Introduce Different Use Conditions

Photo 3: Wall-mounted hair dryers and washroom appliances displayed at the Canton Fair.

The third photograph broadens the discussion beyond handheld styling products.

For appliances intended for hotel rooms or shared washrooms, development teams should establish the expected usage frequency, installation conditions, activation method and maintenance needs.

Depending on the product, the engineering review may need to address sensor activation, operating time limits, motor and heater coordination, or the effects of the installation environment.

The photograph cannot establish the internal electronics of the displayed products. It does, however, show why a control board should be specified around its actual application rather than selected by appearance or board size alone.

4. From a Working Sample to Consistent PCBA Production

An exhibition sample demonstrates a product concept. Production requires that the approved behavior can be repeated across manufactured units.

For buyers sourcing custom control boards, the manufacturing discussion should include:

  • A controlled bill of materials and component substitution process.
  • PCB layout and assembly requirements.
  • Firmware version identification and programming procedures.
  • Functional tests with agreed acceptance limits.
  • Traceability and engineering change management.

CHK-TRONIC’s engineering and manufacturing services connect control-board development, prototyping, SMT PCBA assembly, testing and production support. Its EMC and DFM work also considers layout, wiring interfaces, component selection and production test strategy.

This makes production planning part of development, rather than a separate task after the prototype is complete.

5. Turn Your Canton Fair Product Ideas into an Engineering Brief

After reviewing products at the fair, the most useful next step is to translate the selected concept into measurable requirements.

Prepare the target market, input voltage, rated power, motor and heater information, operating modes, board dimensions, estimated quantity and current development stage. Product drawings or a reference sample can help clarify mechanical constraints.

Certification requirements should also be identified early. Final compliance depends on the complete appliance and its applicable testing, not the control board alone.
